Advanced genetics and biochemistry
This high school level course carries prerequisites of high school level biology and chemistry classes.
This seminar style class will include an introduction to organic chemistry, a review of Mendelian
genetics, and a study of advanced genetic topics. Lectures will focus heavily on complex biochemical
structures and processes and how they defy evolutionary models and point to a Creator. Students will
conduct genetic experiments with bacteria and with fruit flies, in addition to completing a project each
semester and taking regular quizzes and exams.
Topics include:
- Mendelian genetics
- Gene regulation
- Epigenetic factors
- Genetic disorders and diseases
- Non-Mendelian inheritance
- Organic functional groups
- Major biomolecules
- Plasma membranes
- Major histocompatibility complex
- And more….
